About the camp & competition
The Bangkok Young Pianist's Concerto Camp & Competition, now in its second edition, aims to provide exceptional young pianists with an opportunity to learn, rehearse, and perform with a small orchestra. These pianists will compete with level-appropriate candidates in a fair, structured environment. We are committed to supporting the piano communities around the world, to cultivating well-rounded, collaborative skills in these young pianists, and to providing a learning experience appropriate for 21st-century children.
We believe that collaboration is an important skill for every musician, as well as a mandatory subject for 21st-century pedagogy. A great musician should be able to not only perform by him or herself but also communicate with other musicians through verbal and musical languages. We also believe that musical collaboration should be nurtured from a young age. Young musicians should have an opportunity to learn how to coordinate with other musicians, as well as perform with an ensemble.
About Bangkok Modern Ensemble
Bangkok Modern Ensemble (BME) was founded in 2006 by Dr. Jiradej Setabundhu, Mr. Boonrut Sirirattanapan, and Dr. Parinya Chucherdwatanasak. BME is a small-to-medium-sized orchestra, consisting of 10-20 Thai classical musicians from various institutions, both in Thailand and abroad. Its goals are to perform classical music repertoires, premiere compositions by Thai composers, and feature exceptionally talented young Thai classical musicians as soloists. To meet these objectives, BME has pushed the boundaries of classical music traditions and, as a result, become distinctive in its programming, presentation, and orchestration.
